The Vietnam War

The Vietnam war was a conflict beetween North Vietnam and South Vietnam. They started the war because of money and ideology. North Vietnam were communists, and wanted communism in both parts of vietnam, while South Vietnam fought for a democraty like ours. The United States government was afraid of communism, therefore, they joined the war and fought on South Vietnam's side.

The Vietnam was a modern war (fought from the end of the 50's to 1975) and was therefore fought with guns, missiles, helicopters and bombs. The Vietnam war is known for its use of napalm, which is a deadly gass that makes people burn inside even if they don't directly "touch" it. Napalm is very dangerous, and will lead to a very painful death. Therefor, it is completely illegal today.

There wasn't really a solution in this war, but at the end of the war, America stepped out of the war. North Vietnam attacked South Vietnam one last time, and won.

About 1,5 million people died during this war, and about 2 got wounded. Many people got serious injuries from the war, and som people that participated in the war are homeless and have huge problems today. Today we can ask ourselves how this could happen. It's not too long ago, but seems very unreal today. At least to me.
